Center Certification Process
From Institution Registration To Center Certification
Adviser qualification enables delivery. Student participation and completed projects establish the institution's path to annual Center certification.
Institution Registers
Submit official school or education organization information through the NIM institution registration form.
Adviser Trains and Certifies
At least one staff member completes the current LearningFirst training and NIM knowledge test, then receives the personal Certified Adviser credential.
Students Register and Participate
The institution organizes registration and delivers its NIM courses through qualified advisers.
Students Complete Projects
Participating students develop and complete their NIM projects through the applicable program cycle.
Receive Center Certificate
NIM issues the annual NIM Innovation Project Center certificate after the institution completes the pathway.
Separate credentials: Certified Adviser is a personal qualification earned before guiding students. The Center certificate belongs to the institution and is issued after student participation and project completion. The two certificates are not bound to each other.
Staff continuity: A NIM Innovation Project Center must maintain at least one current staff member with active NIM adviser certification. If that adviser leaves, the institution nominates a replacement for training and certification.

Before Your Institution Registers
Must a Center have a NIM Certified Adviser?
Yes. An institution must maintain at least one current staff member with active NIM adviser certification for local course delivery and student guidance. The adviser credential belongs to the individual and is separate from the institution's Center certificate.
Are the Adviser and Center certificates linked?
No. Certified Adviser is a personal qualification issued after the educator completes the applicable training and knowledge test. The annual Center certificate belongs to the institution and follows institution registration, adviser qualification, student participation, and completed student projects.
What happens if the Center's Certified Adviser leaves?
The institution must nominate a replacement staff member to complete the applicable training and certification. The named adviser's credential remains subject to its stated validity, but the former institution may not continue operating under that adviser after the employment or affiliation ends.
Can an institution nominate more than one adviser?
Yes. An institution may certify multiple current staff members for broader subject coverage, additional course capacity, or continuity of delivery. Each Certified Adviser may guide no more than three student teams during the applicable program cycle.
When can an institution recruit students and open NIM courses?
After registering and qualifying at least one NIM Certified Adviser, the institution may organize students and deliver its own NIM courses through qualified advisers. The annual Center certificate is issued after the institution completes the full pathway, including student participation and completed projects.
Does the Center decide student results?
No. The Center and adviser support learning and submission. NIM independently conducts the final project review and issues eligible official results and student certificates.
Is there an institution certification fee?

Does a Center follow a fixed NIM curriculum?

Does Center status imply university recognition?
